WELCOME to the Eastern Shore AFRAM Festival!

Join us again this Summer at our NEW LOCATION in the Seaford Sports Complex, for two GREAT DAYS of Multi-Cultural Celebration. With lots of fun activities for the whole family - and fabulous food and music - this year's event will literally be BIGGER and BETTER than ever before. Located next to the Seaford Library and Cultural Center, the Seaford Jay's Nest, and just a few yards from the Seaford Historical Society's Ross Mansion, the Eastern Shore AFRAM Festival is where Community, Culture and History truly come together.

This year's festival theme is the Kwanzaa principle, "UJAMAA" which symbolizes the ideals of Collective Work and Responsibility.

FRIDAY NIGHT:

The festival opens Friday Night, AUGUST 10th at 5:00 PM, with the traditional Little Miss and Little Mr. AFRAM Pageant, featuring talented kids, and music by local amateur performers. Feel free to test your wits in this year's edition of the hilarious AFRAM Family Feud gameshow. Stroll among AFRAM's unique vendors for some of the best cultural foods, and exotic imports such as African textiles and beauty products. Shop for ethnic fashions as well as jewelry, and other accessories; and fine arts/crafts (and books) from across the African Diaspora.

As evening cools, and the stars light up the sky, the music heats up with FORCE-ONE's DJ Blade and his Old School Dance Party, and TnT BALTIMORE STEEL ORCHESTRA.

Stay the night at one of Seaford's better hotels; The Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, and Comfort Suites - all less than 10 minutes drive from the festival. You won't want to miss the next morning's AFRAM PARADE...

AFRAM PARADE:

SATURDAY 10 AM; join the AFRAM PARADE to the rythmn of traditional African Drummers and Dancers - as they lead Buffalo Soldiers, Marching Bands, Clowns, Dignitaries, unique Custom Cars & Motorcycles, Historic Societies and Community Organizations, through the streets of the city, past the Judging Booth - right up to the festival grounds for a day full of celebration. RANDOM SPECTATORS will be selected to receive FREE FESTIVAL SOUVENIRS!

SATURDAY:

Meet up with friends and family at the SPORTS COMPLEX for All Day Fun, and MORE fabulous music, food and shopping throughout the day. There's TRULY something for everyone!

There are lots of activities for the kids over by AFRAM's Kid's Korner (near the Jay's Nest playground), including balloon bounces, "Parks-n-Rec" games, pony rides, and more. Visit the Ross Mansion and the Seaford Library and Cultural Center (both right closeby).

Chill with friends to LIVE MUSIC all day Saturday, (JAZZ, GOSPEL, BLUES, SOUL, and more) but remember to bring your lawn chairs for the best seats under the sun. (TENT SEATING is ALSO AVAILABLE.) See Schedule and Performers listed below.

There's lots to enjoy. Stroll among AFRAM's unique vendors for some of the best cultural foods, and exotic imports such as African textiles and beauty products. Shop for ethnic fashions as well as jewelry, and other accessories; and fine arts/crafts (and books) from across the African Diaspora. There's also a wealth of information available among the resource vendors; regarding wellness, education, community non-profits, employment, and government agencies & services.

TheAve Nu; The AveNu is a award winning group that began its musical journey as a 65+ member high school gospel choir at Campus Community High School of Dover, De. With the help of Dana Sorey, Formal Musical Director of Tye Tribbet and G.A, we later revamped the group down to a 15+ member choir with mainly college students of Delaware State University and a few high school students from surrounding areas. Moves of Praise Anointed Youth Ministries is a truly anointed dance ministry located on the Eastern Shore in Maryland. Through dance, our vision is to reach out and touch the lives of God's people. When we minister, we pray that someone will hear God's gentle voice and know that he is able to do all things.
